Sergeant Major (Ret.) Mario P. Fields served over 26 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in September 2019. Throughout his career, he served in 18 commands and deployed to numerous countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star. Notable achievements include graduating as an honor graduate from Parris Island and receiving meritorious promotions to Lance Corporal, Sergeant, and Gunnery Sergeant for his exceptional leadership.
Transition to Civilian Life
Since retiring, Fields has become a philanthropist, podcaster, and social media content creator. He founded two companies and works part-time as an Employment Facilitator for the U.S. Department of Labor, helping veterans and transitioning service members secure meaningful careers.
Personal Life
Fields holds an Associate of Science in Management and is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He has been married to Nicole, a U.S. Navy veteran, for 29 years and will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in January 2025. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, creating content for his social media followers, and cherishing moments with his newborn granddaughter.
Advocacy for Mental Health
A strong advocate for mental health, Fields shares his personal experiences with PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder through his podcast, Unarmored Talk, YouTube channel, and other platforms. His mission is to help people recognize that everyone faces challenges and that healing and thriving through adversity are possible.
