Becoming a podcaster, I have learned so many things in 3 short months. I thought wrapping up Season 1 would let me breathe a little and reflect. (Uh, no!) These last few weeks, I’ve been busier than ever, preparing guests & implementing new things to improve the podcast just a little bit more. I’d like to say I’m very organized and a true planner in nature, but let’s be real, these last few months I’ve been:

  • Podcast host

  • Podcast producer

  • Social media marketer on ALL the platforms

  • Content creator/planner

  • Podcast audio editor (my biggest time consumer)

  • Teen mom

  • Wife

  • And speaker on the Parade Deck stage at the Military Influencer Conference (happening September 21-24) 😬

On top of that, the new authors I’m excited to bring in for Season 2 all had some great stories I needed time to read before our interviews. So, the last 4 weeks flew by, and before I could realize it, my September calendar already filled up. It’s ONLY September 4th?! How is that even possible?

A Proud Wife Moment (and an Audio Nightmare)

I’ve also been helping promote my husband’s book, Walking Away From the Ledge. I’m a proud wife, and I do want my audiences to hear from him, so I wanted to give him some time behind the mic. We sat at our dining room table to record one afternoon, but our open-concept floor plan was not forgiving for recording. Being the novice audio engineer, I did ask ChatGPT’s help with the setup of two mics on one device. Once we had split audio for 2 sets of headphones and 2 sets of microphones, I thought everything was “good to go.” I even used Audacity as my backup recording alongside my Riverside studio. Chris and I did our interview, and all saved well. I assumed I’d have minimal edits to do and be good to launch his interview this week of September 5th.

Uh, no again! 😡 The audio played back with an echo, and you could definitely hear the sound of wide-open spaces. So, I spent the weekend working on that audio. Meanwhile, Chris left shortly after our interview to head to the Pacific Northwest to visit family and have a reunion with some of his old Long Range Surveillance F Co Army Ranger buddies after almost 20 years and promote his book with the very men who walked the same military journey from Chris’s book, “Walking Away From the Ledge”  That left me solo parenting, doing school drop-off and pick-up drives and meals; a routine I’m WELL versed in as a military spouse raising children through multiple deployments. None of that was an inconvenience, but it does set the picture of the “behind the scenes” chaos that was my life these last few days.

Quality Over Speed (and a Dream of More Hours)

I realized rushing Chris’s episode was not going to be the quality of work it deserved. His conversation on his book and his honest thoughts on deployment and hardship needed time. Plus, I was simultaneously editing two other interviews alongside his. I take pride in the deep personal stories people are sharing with me, so I do want to make sure I’m taking the time to make sure these edits sound good, good quality, and really are listened with care. But wearing all the “hats” is starting to take its toll, and there just isn’t enough hours in the day. Maybe when the budget allows, I might be able to buy back my time with hiring an audio engineer to polish these edits for me and do it better justice. For now, it’s just me, my laptop, and a whole lot of caffeine (black tea).☕️☕️☕️

TL;DR: Season 2 Is Coming, and It’s Gonna Be Good

Due to some other life obligations, I felt Chris’s conversation on Walking Away From the Ledge and his honest thoughts on his deployment and hardship deserved better than a rushed release. I felt it better to release the day after 9/11 since most of the country is in reflection and honor of that day. So, I will now launch Season 2 Episode 1 with my husband Chris on September 12th, 2025. After that, I have a wonderful lineup of other newly published authors to share their life stories. They did the brave thing, wrote their life chapters on paper, and there are still more hidden chapters that were not written or shared… until now!

I am truly enjoying this journey as a podcaster. Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to just record LIVE and with VIDEO. No editing, no deleting the “ums” and “uhs,” the bloopers, or large gaps where either I, as a podcast host, or my guest, felt our words didn’t portray exactly what we meant to say. Because in true messy life fashion, we are not able to pause or delete life’s bloopers.

Since not everyone follows me on social media, I recorded a Updated Note Episode   updating listeners from across the U.S. and abroad, sharing my plans to launch next Friday, September 12th, after September 11th. I hope you’ll have time to press play, take a listen, and be ready for Season 2 next week.

❤️

I will always be in gratitude for those that are following me along on my journey!

I’ll be back next week with my husband, Chris, to launch Season 2 Episode 1!
